We're making some exciting upgrades to our Wistia integration! Starting today, you'll be able to integrate your Wistia videos into your Uberflip Hub using OAuth -- no more API keys required!
If you have an active Wistia Stream in your Hub, there are a few very important implications of this change:
- Until your re-authorize your Wistia integration using OAuth, no new videos will be added to your Hub from Wistia
- All existing Wistia API keys that were previously used to integrate with Uberflip will no longer be required
Why We're Making This Change
Here at Uberflip, one of our core goals is to ensure that our software integrates seamlessly with other best-in-class marketing technologies like Wistia. This project was all about making sure our integration was using the most up-to-date and secure technology available, and to ensure that integrating Wistia with Uberflip was as easy as a process as possible. It also ensure's that we'll be able to take advantage when Wistia adds exciting new features and functionality that Uberflip users would like to see translate over to their Hubs.
How to Authorize the New Wistia Integration
Follow the steps below to reconnect your Hub with Wistia or to set-up a new Wistia integration with your Hub(s).
Step 1 - Create an Authorized Uberflip User in Wistia
While it's not mandatory, it's a good idea to create a new user in Wistia that's solely dedicated to powering the integration with your Hub. By using the credentials for this "Uberflip Integration" user to authorize Wistia, the connection between Uberflip and Wistia won't be broken in the event that an employee leaves your organization or Wistia credentials expire.
Please Note: You'll need Owner-Level access in your Wistia account to complete this step. If you aren't able to create new users, please contact the Owner of your organization's Wistia account.
Step 2 - Visit the 'Manage Content' Page
If you have a current Wistia Stream in your Hub, you'll be notified that you need to re-authorize your Wistia integration when you log into your Hub. Look at the top of your screen for a blue notification bar. Click the 'Re-Authorize Wistia' button and you'll be taken to the Wistia integration page.
If you haven't yet created a Wistia Stream in your Hub, or you don't see the blue notification bar at the top of your screen, visit the 'Manage Content' page. Under the 'Videos' drop down menu, click on the Wistia icon.
Step 3 - Connect to Wistia
On the page that appears, click the blue 'Connect' button.
Step 4 - Enter Your Wistia Username & Password
This is where the magic of OAuth comes into play! All you'll need to do is enter your Wistia Username and Password. When you're done, click the blue 'Log In' button.
Step 5 - Click Authorize
If you are the manager or owner of your Wistia account and your Wistia credentials are valid, just click the blue 'Authorize' button to finish the authorization process.
Please Note: You must be a manager or owner of an account in order to authorize the Uberflip integration. If you see the below warning message when trying to authorize the integration, please contact the owner of your Wistia account or reach out to Uberflip's Support Team at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Step 6 - Add New Content From Wistia
When you've successfully authorized your Hub's Wistia integration, your existing Wistia Streams will automatically start to ingest any new content they may have been added while the integration was down. It will also continue to import any new content as it's added into your Wistia Projects moving forward. You can also proceed with creating new Wistia Streams from your Wistia Projects.
