How To Enable Single Sign On (SSO) In Your Hub

Does your organization leverage the power of Single Sign On (SSO) to make it easy for employees to access a list of third party platforms? Well, you can now add Uberflip to that list!

What is Single Sign On (SSO)? 

Single Sign On (SSO) allows a user to enter one set of credentials to access multiple third party applications. For teams that use various software tools, it can be a challenge remembering multiple passwords. And for large organizations with 100s of people looking to leverage a tool like Uberflip, it can be a daunting task to manually add new users. SSO solves both of those problems making it easier for you to get more of your team using Uberflip. 

SSO usually makes use of a central service like Google, Facebook or OneLogin (also known as IdPs) which orchestrates the single sign on between multiple clients. You likely use it every day and don’t even realize it.

What is an Identity Provider (IdP)?

To start leveraging SSO you first need an Identity Provider (IdP), also known as Identity Assertion Provider. These platforms act as the central source of identity for your users. Here are some of the popular IdPs we work with:

  • OneLogin
  • Google
  • Okta


How to set up SSO in Uberflip

Step 1: Start by logging into your Uberflip platform > hover over your name in the top right corner > and click "Account Settings". 

 

Step 2: Select the “Identity Provider Settings” link from the bottom left-hand menu under “Security”. 


Step 3: Click the pink button labeled "+ Create a New IdP".

Step 4: Reference your IdP platform and complete the necessary form fields. The required form fields include:

  • Name
  • Description
  • Login URL 
  • Identity Provider Entity 
  • Identity Provider Certificate 
  • Pull Identity From (The assertion's subjects' name identifier OR an assertion attribute value)
  • Map Identity To
  • Status

Tip: You also have the ability to auto-fill the fields. Just click on the pink buttons labeled "XML" or "URL" if your IdP allows you to download their XML manifest or provides a URL where it is hosted. 

Step 5: Once the form is completed, click "Save" to finish adding your IdP. 

 

How your users will interact with SSO

With SSO enabled in your Hub, users will now notice that the Uberflip login screen asks for one piece of information - their "Company Name" or "Email Address". If they already exist as a user in Uberflip they can enter their email address or username.

If they are NOT an existing Uberflip user, they just need to enter the primary username on your Uberflip account (typically your company name). 

On the second login screen, existing users can choose to enter their password or log in using SSO. If a brand new user logs into Uberflip via SSO an account will automatically be created for them using the profile information that was passed over by the IdP.
