MailChimp's "Enable Follow" Form CTA feature allows you to automatically send your users a weekly digest of select content via a MailChimp email campaign.
When this feature is enabled, Uberflip will automatically create a new campaign for you in MailChimp that will be populated by RSS feeds you specify from your Hub. It's an amazingly easy way to keep your subscribers engaged and up-to-date with all of your latest content.
To use this feature, you'll need to create a MailChimp Form CTA. This is because it will be subscribers who choose to fill out a Form CTA who will be sent the automated content updates. In the first stage of the Form CTA creation process, simply click the checkbox beside “Enable Follow Feature”.
Once you've enabled the Follow Feature, you'll need to specify which content you'd like to send subscribers who fill out the Form CTA. When selecting the “Content to follow” option, try to ensure that you are sending your subscribers content in accordance with their stated interests. However, if you want all of your latest Hub content to be sent (default), then choose “Hub (All Collections”). If you want to send content from a particular Stream, find it in the list and select it.
The Stream that you select here is where the content will pull from to populate your automated email campaign.
The “Weekly Schedule” portion is where you can specify when your MailChimp campaign will be automatically sent to your subscribers. Your options include choosing the day of the week and the time of day. This information is always changeable, but as we only create one MailChimp campaign per CTA, if you change it after the RSS campaign has already been created, you will be prompted to make sure you want to change the currently active campaign to the settings requested.
MailChimp makes sure not to send any duplicate content. Up to 20 of the latest items in the Stream specified will be included in the email. As mentioned, these items are pulled through the integration with your Hub's RSS feed(s).
Editing the Template of Your MailChimp Campaign
When you choose to use the "Enable Follow" feature, and upon the first submission of your MailChimp CTA, a campaign will be set up automatically inside your MailChimp account using an RSS-driven Template (which is also automatically created). This Template should be called "Hub-RSS-Template", unless you have manually changed the Template's title.
To make changes to the design of your Template, such as changing the title, fonts, or colors, click Edit on the Templates page. From there, you can make your required design changes by editing the code on the Template by clicking Edit Code. Unfortunately for the time being you cannot edit your Template in "Design Mode".
Reporting on Your Automated Campaign
To view and report on the campaign from inside your MailChimp account, just click Campaigns in the left menu.
You'll notice that your campaign's name will reference the CTA ID # of the Form CTA that you originally set up to feed in subscribers from your Hub (in the case of the below screenshot, the CTA ID is 11084). Click on "View Report" to see the campaign's full performance report.
