Placing a Link CTA

October 16, 2014 Uberflip Customer Success

Link CTA Placements allow you to position your calls-to-action in several areas across your Hub, making it easy to keep things contextual and increase your click-through rates.

There are 3 placements you can make for Link CTAs on your Hub. They are: (1) Home/Latest Content, (2) Streams, (3) Items - Show Beside. There are no limits on the number of placements you can make in your Hub and as a best practice we recommend using all three options as you build your Hub.

Each placement option is outlined below in more detail.

(1) Home/Latest Content

Placing a Link CTA among your Latest Content is a great way to generate click-throughs from the place where most of your users will land for the first time.

In the example below, you can see a Link CTA is being used to send a visitor who lands on our Hub's Latest Content feed to a blog post about how Uberflip and Marketing Automation are great together.

To place your Link CTA on your Home/Latest Content feed, click on the Placements tab when editing a Link CTA. By default, the Home/Latest Content placement will be disabled and you will not be able to make edits. To add and configure the placement, click the Enable button as seen below.

Once you've enabled the placement, you'll have the ability to configure a few options that tell that Link CTA where it should live among your Home/Latest Content feed. The following options refer to the screenshot below:

(1) Will Appear After Item...

Adjusting this number using the '+/-' buttons will allow you to position your Link CTA as a specific tile inside your Hub. For example, if you set this number at 3, the Link CTA would be the 4th tile in your Hub.

(2) Repeat After Every...

Adjusting this number using the '+/-' buttons will allow you to leverage the Hub's default infinite scroll feature by placing the same Link CTA at several points throughout your Hub's Home/Latest Content feed.

(2) Streams

Placing a Link CTA in a particular stream of content is a great way to start to generate leads in the proper context. As a best practice, Link CTAs in a Stream-level placement should speak explicitly to the content in that Stream.

In the example below, we can see a Link CTA that has been placed in the Uberflip Blog Stream. This CTA asks users who land on the general blog Stream to learn more about a specific topic that may be of interest to them.

To place your Link CTA in a stream, navigate to the Placements tab when editing your Link CTA and step 1 is to click the blue Add New Placement Button. On the popup that will appear, step 2 will give you the option to select a Stream of content from your Hub - any stream of content - to add your Link CTA to.

Once you've selected the right Stream, you'll see a list of configuration options very similar to the options you had when placing your Link CTA on your Home/Latest Content feed. The following options refer to the screenshot below:

(1) Will Appear After Item...

Adjusting this number using the '+/-' buttons will allow you to position your Link CTA as a specific tile inside your Stream. For example, if you set this number at 3, the Link CTA would be the 4th tile in the Stream.

(2) Repeat After Every...

Adjusting this number using the '+/-' buttons will allow you to leverage the Hub's default infinite scroll feature by placing the same Link CTA at several points throughout your Stream.

(3) Disable & Delete

At any time you can choose to disable your Link CTA from this view. Disabling your Form CTA will temporarily hide and inactivate it. To delete it your Link CTA permanently, just click the Delete button.

(3) Items - Show Beside

Using Link CTAs in Show Beside placements is a great way to ensure that your users or visitors see a relevant call-to-action as the read individual pieces of content. They appear to the right of your content in the place of a traditional sidebar call-to-action or blog subscription form.

As you can see in the below example, Show Beside Link CTAs are a great and passive way to generate further engagement or get your users to take a next step in the buying journey.

To place your Link CTA in a Show Beside placement for items, just navigate to the Placements tab when editing your Link CTA. Below the "Repeat after every..." line, you'll see the option to enable the Show Beside placement by checking the box.

Please note that this placement will apply to every item inside the Stream where it is placed. Unless you're using the CTA Variations feature, you'll need to ensure that any Link CTAs in Show Beside placements can speak to every item in that particular Stream. Translation: keep it general!

That's it! You've successfully placed your Link CTAs throughout your Hub and are well on your way to generating more clickthroughs and leads.
